Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher http://www.thirteenreasonswhy.com/ Do you generally agree, or disagree with, the banning and/or restricting of books? I generally disagree with the banning of books because I believe that people should be educated on everything because with knowledge comes power. But I do believe that there should be restrictions on some lie an age bracket which already exist. The banning of books cuts off the understanding of a topic that some or mostly everyone falls short of its understanding. The banning of books also kinda does the opposite of what's the basis of the library is based on. I believe that “ Thirteen Reasons Why “ was challenged because the basics of the book is not a light subject but something that must be vocalized. With teen suicide being more common than what society would want it is a sad reality and book that emphasizes the effects of bullying can do to someone mentally and physically. This book to me was also challenged because this topic of suicide is practically new because it was always known to be taboo addressing it or admitting that it is a lot more common in society. The book goes into depth about bullying in society which should be displayed more to see the outcomes of both parts of suicide and its aftermath.
